Celebrating Ten Years: Our Journey So Far

2026 marks an important year for the Teachers’ Pension Plan Corporation (TPPC) of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is our tenth anniversary!

In 2016, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador (GNL) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA) signed a Joint Sponsorship Agreement (JSA). Ultimately, the goal was to create a world-class organization to administer the Teachers’ Pension Plan (Plan) and its fund — hence, TPPC was established.

Over the past decade, our organization has grown and evolved across key areas that are important to our members:

  • Plan Sustainability
Since 2017, the Plan has been fully funded and has over $7 billion in assets available for benefits. This strong financial position ensures we can provide our members with a lifetime pension upon retirement.

  • Supporting Members
We are proud to support more than 18,000 members across Newfoundland and Labrador. From early career to a well-earned retirement, we are here to support members on every step of their journey.

  • Digitally Focused
As our members’ needs evolve, we have strengthened our digital services by providing clear, accessible information through our website and personalized support through myPENSION. These tools empower members to manage their pension with ease and confidence.

TPPC’s official anniversary date is August 31, 2026, commemorating ten years since the appointment of its Board of Directors. To celebrate our decade of achievements, we have added a 10-year acknowledgement to the bottom right corner of our logo, which will be featured on our website for the remainder of the year.

We are proud of our history, and as we look to the future, we remain focused on our mission to provide retirement security and excellent service to our members.

To our members, it is an honour and a privilege to act as the trustee and administrator of the Teachers’ Pension Plan. We look forward to continuing this vital work. Thank you for the confidence you place in us.
