Potential Canada Post Strike

As you may have heard in recent news, Canada Post has issued a strike notice effective Friday, May 23, 2025. Due to the pending labour disruption, mail delivery may be interrupted in the coming days.

As a precaution, we will hold all outgoing mail and recommend that you refrain from sending mail to us at this time. To minimize disruptions to your pension correspondence and payments, we encourage all members to use digital options whenever possible.

  • Register for myPENSION – In myPENSION, members can securely access and update their personal information, share documents, update banking details, view cheque stubs, and more. You can register for myPENSION here.

  • Register for direct deposit – We encourage all pensioners to switch to direct deposit to avoid any payment disruption. To switch to direct deposit, please complete and follow the instructions on this form.

  • If you live outside of Canada, you can receive your pension payment by direct deposit. Please contact us to complete the necessary documentation.

  • If you live in St. John’s or the surrounding area, and you receive your pension payment by cheque, you may pick it up at the Teachers’ Pension Plan Corporation (TPPC) office, three business days after the scheduled pay date during regular business hours. We recommend you call us to confirm that your cheque is available before coming to pick it up.

  • If you are expecting a transfer to your financial institution, you may experience delays during the postal strike. All transfers will be held until the strike is resolved.

  • If you wish to provide a cheque for a service purchase, you may drop it off at our office during regular business hours. If you have sent a cheque and the receipt is delayed due to the postal disruption, you will not be penalized.

We understand that a postal disruption can have a negative impact on our members, and our team is here to support you. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at any time using the contact information below.
