Are you planning to retire in June?

With the winter weather we have been experiencing the last few weeks, the warm breezes of June may seem like a long time away. However, if you are planning to retire from your teaching career at the end of the school year, there are important steps for you to take now to ensure your pension is ready for you when you are.
  1. Confirm you are eligible to retire

Before beginning the retirement process, contact us, using the email or telephone numbers listed below, to ensure you are eligible to retire.

  2. Submit your resignation to your employer

If you are eligible and plan to retire in June 2026, you must provide written notice of your retirement to your employer no later than March 31, 2026.

  3. Complete your pension application

Once you have submitted your resignation to your employer, complete the  Pension Application and Direct Deposit forms.

    These forms must be:

    • Signed in ink by the applicant – digital signatures are not accepted
    • Dated
    • Accompanied by:
      • a copy of your birth certificate or passport
      • a void cheque or auto-deposit slip from your online bank account

  4. Submit your pension application

To avoid any delays in processing your pension application, all completed forms and support documentation must be submitted by March 31, 2026. Submit your application by uploading all documents to your secure myPENSION account. This is the quickest and most secure way to return your application. Alternatively, you can mail or drop off your application to the TPPC office.

*For your security, we do not recommend submitting documents by email due to the personal and private information your application contains.

  5. Receive confirmation

Once we receive all the required documentation, we will upload a letter to your myPENSION account confirming receipt of your pension application. You will also receive an email advising that the confirmation letter has been uploaded. If we require any additional information, we will contact you.

Retirement is a major life transition that often brings a mix of excitement and apprehension. We are here to support you on every stage of your journey. If you have any questions about the application process or need assistance using myPENSION or completing forms, please reach out to us using the contact information below.
